this refers not to a physical shield but to a shield that will protect you from people that want to change your ways or that are dissin you in any way but as long as you are within yourself and hang on to your own principles you will be fine

i had not lived there a week before my wore a path from my door to the pond side:

1)imitation is suicide: this means that by imtating another person you are killing your own ideas and principles.
2)What have i to do with the sacredness of traditions, if I livo wholly from within?: why do you need to follow everyones religion if you have your own set of ideas that are reasonable to you?
3)I am not solitary whilst I read and write, though nobody is with me: your ideas acompany you, so your thoughts are like beings therefore keeping you company.
