janie leaves the town with tea cake
in the end of chapter 13 Jaine's freind Phoeby comes to ask her about Tea Cake and what the deal is about the whole thing of them two being together. when she tells Phoeby about them really being tegether and thinking about getting married, Phoeby warns her that Tea Cake might be just after her money that Jody had such a hard time getting. Janie doesnt take offence to this, and is positive that Tea Cake isnt like that and would never do anything of that sort to her. and then Janie tells Phoeby about her selling the store. and then she explains that if she were to stay, everyone would compare Tea Cake to Jody, and what she really wants is to live a life that only involves her and Tea Cake. No one else to judge, or bother them so that she can have the life SHE always wanted, not to live a life choosen for her.

quote response....
the ship in the distance represents a dream that is alwas there and can be reached but is also way out of reach. The boat that gets drawn in by tide are the dreams that we achieve by some uncontrolable force, like the tide. then there is the sad man that can never achieve anything because he plainly sucks or has just the worst luck. then woman, in this time, werent really able to get anything they wanted, so if they couldnt get something they would just forget about it. and then there were the things they liked which they can choose to rebe ber forever because even though they dont own the actual thing or dont have a thing similar to this whatever. they have their imagination and the ability to make it real through thought.

the malform'd limbs are tied to the surgeons table, what is removed drops horribly in a pail; the quadroon girl is sold at the auction-stand..... the opium eater reclines with rigid head and just opened lips, the prostitute daggles her shawl, her bonnet bobs on her tipsy and pimpled neck.....
it stroke me as awfull that the writter throws these images inbetween the normal every day stuff he was jst talking about, but i think that is kind of the point, that as horrilbe as this may sound it is every day stuff.
i bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass i love, if you want me again look for me under your boot-soles
i think that this reading is supposed to be about the earth and how it is always a part of our lives....

alone far in the wilds and mountains I hunt, wandering at my own lightness and glee...
this quote told me that he was a transcendentalist right away because emmerson wrote that in tho woods your inner child comes out and gives you energy, now this is oviously and old guy so the woods bringing enrgy to him makes him a transcendentalism.
for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you....
i interpreted this quote as the author telling us that we are all the same, and by being parts of each other we need each other to survive.

the black veil, though it covers only our pastor's face, throws its influence over his whole person, and makes him ghostlike from head to foot.
this quote kinda means to me anyways that when we cant see a persons face its like theyre someone else, every time we are talking to someone were looking at their face and if you take that away its like you cant really communicate in the same way...

young goodman brown
"there might be a devilish indian behind every tree"
this states that this author simply doesnt like nature nearly as much as transcendentalists.
"faith kept me back a while"
this seemed normal untill i realize that the guy that was waiting was the devil. then i read it again and i realized what it meant, and its that faith is better than evil.
